Jeff was born in Clinton,
Iowa, to Roger and Judy Fiet. He has an older sister, Becky, who
is married to Dan and has a daughter Clara, and a son Noah. Jeff
grew up in Fulton, Illinois, until he was almost 10 and then moved to
Morrison, Illinois, where he graduated from Morrison High School.
He went on to receive his Associate of Science from Sauk Valley
Community College in Dixon, Illinois, and his Bachelor of Arts in
Mathematics and General Music from Trinity Christian College in Palos
Heights, Illinois. After graduation, Jeff worked for 4 years as
an administrative assistant at Fuchs Lubricants Company, during which
time he met and married April. Jeff began to feel a strong call
to the ministry in 2000, just before he and April first met.
April was born in Powell,
Wyoming, to Tim and Kathy Emick. She has a younger brother,
Zach, who is single and living in Grand Junction Colorado.
April's dad works for an oil company and was transferred quite often,
so April lived in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah before
heading to Illinois to attend Wheaton College. April graduated
from Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah, in 1999. She met Jeff
while in college and they were married following her junior year.
In 2003, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications
from Wheaton College.
When April and Jeff came to
Western Theological Seminary in 2004, April elected to take classes
with Jeff through she was not planning on becoming a minister.
After a year of schooling and working together in an internship at
Home Acres Reformed Church of Kentwood, Michigan, Jeff and April
became more and more convinced that God was calling them to serve a
church together. On June 19th, 2007, they gave birth to their
first child, Jakob Allen, who has been a rich addition to their lives
and ministry. Then, on July 23rd they joyfully began serving as
co-pastors of Dumont Reformed Church. They are excited to be
part of the Dumont Reformed Church and Pleasant Prairie Classis, and
look forward to many wonderful years serving God in this place. |
